This beautiful estate piece is from the 1960s.
It is a signed Georges Briard and is a Relish Boat Serving Tray with Gilt Trim and Hand Painted Birds in Flight on the main Dish.
Georges Briard was a Mid-Century Modern Glass icon. This piece was designed and signed by Georges Briard.
"Georges Briard was the go-to for decorative housewares in the 1950s and 60s and was carried at upscale retails like Bloomingdale’s and Neiman Marcus. Briard’s success and notoriety came with the use of 22-karat gold as screened decoration for bent glassware. His design hallmarks are repetitive patterns, most often featuring geometric shapes or nature based images."The gold is 22K.
It has a Gold 2 tine fork attached by chain to the dish.
Use for Olives Pickles or any Hors de Oeuvres that require a fork to pick up.
The boat measures 7” Across and the corners are slightly furled.
In very good vintage condition. Some paint on 2 of the birds is worn but does not detract from the piece overall.
